So, the MP4 player you have did not come with a software CD?
When you say 'empty disk', you mean the MP4 player was formatted..right? _________________ etronicsland.com

Are you sure you used the right firmware when doing the update?
The software tool should be able to detect your mp4 player if your computer is able to detect it. Do you get an error message on the PC? What operating system do you have? _________________ etronicsland.com

So the computer sees the device and you can see the drives, but the update tool doesn't see it?
1. Try using a different USB port on your computer.
2. Also try using another USB cable to connect the MP4 player to the PC. _________________ etronicsland.com

Try connecting the mp4 player to a different computer that runs Windows 2000 or a different OS from XP, and see what happens.
Also, you may want to reinstall the update tool if the problem persists even on another computer. It could be some resource conflict or software configuration issue. _________________ etronicsland.com
