My PC Computer Does Not Recognize My MP4 Player When Connected

Have you ever connected your MP4/MP3 Player to your computer and within seconds your XP Computer spits the dummy and gives you a "Device Unrecognisable" or something about the USB being damaged and cannot connect? If you have and do not know how to get around or solve this problem, listen in.
There may be some little things to try first and it might not be anything to do with your computer. You can change the USB cable first as this maybe the culprit. The computer connection is a larger connection and can sometimes be warped a little or bowed out. In the image below you will see the USB Computer Connection. This connection has a white wafer above and a metal "presser" that provides tension to make the connections tight with each other.
Often you can find that you can solve your connection problem by lightly pressing the metal coupling -- press with you thumb on the metal side of the connector and not on the wafer side. Overall when you couple the plug with the socket it should feel tighter to make the connection. This is the effect you are seeking, and often, the problem of connecting computer with USB Connected Player can be solved this way.
If 'bending" your connector does not solve your problem then try another cable. Often cables can develop a number of connection difficulties. So this may be something else to try. AND if that was not the answer, then we go to the third.
Try connecting your player to another USB port. Using one port all the time to connect and disconnect USB items a port can develop a range of files associated with configuring the USB connection. Some of these files might actually have been from your player connected before, or some of these configurations could be from other USB items you connect to this port. Changing ports can often lead to an immediate good connection simply because ther are no conflicting configuration files. If this does not solve your problem, we can now entertain the next process to try.
THIS IS A BIG ONE. This is the last thing to do. Before you try this process, please complete a full back up of your system. This is important as the next step can have side effects you did not entirely expect. AND Second, you might need your XP Install Disk (not in all cases). What this process is about is renewing all hardware/software configurations relating to USB connections.
Here is what you do:
1. Right click MY COMPUTER
2. Select PROPERTIES
3. Select HARDWARE
4. Select DEVICE MANAGER
5. Select UNIVERSAL SERIAL BUS CONTROLLERS
6. Right click on each USB CONTROLLER and select Uninstall
7. Uninstall all entries
8. Reboot your computer
9. As your computer re-boots it will reinstall all USB connections it detects
THEN, when all other USB items have been configured and connected by the system, you then should try connecting your USB Player. For me, all USB MP4/MP3 Player connection problems are solved by this procedure.
If these suggestions are implemented and you are still have connection difficulties with your computer, there are several other things to try. If you have another XP Computer you should try connecting your player to another computer to see if the problem is a player problem or not. If it still has this problem with the next computer, it maybe be a fault of the player.
IF YOU HAVE COMPLETED ALL the above mentioned and still have a problem, you should next contact the seller of this machine for further instructions of what to do next. However, I have found that all options I covered in this article usually solves all USB Connection prob lems.
