Welcome to Etronicsland.com. If you’re here, you’re probably tired of affiliate-driven blogs that recommend whatever pays the highest commission. So are we.

Etronicsland was founded on a simple principle: product recommendations should be earned, not bought.

We are a small, independent team of engineers, outdoor enthusiasts, and off-grid dwellers who got frustrated with the state of online reviews. Everywhere we looked, we saw “best of” lists filled with products that had clearly never been touched by the reviewer. We saw sponsored content disguised as honest advice. We saw affiliate links driving recommendations, not real-world performance.

So we built something better.

What We Believe

🚫 No Ads. No Freebies. No Promos.

We do not accept payment from manufacturers for placement in our reviews. We do not run display ads. We do not accept free review samples if it means sacrificing editorial control (and we almost always buy our own gear, anonymously, like any other customer).

Our only income comes from reader-supported affiliate links — but here’s the difference: we only link to products we would recommend to a friend, regardless of commission. If a product fails our tests, we say so. Clearly. Loudly. Even if that means we don’t earn a cent from that article.

Our Testing Philosophy

We take extensive time to test every product that makes it onto our site. How much time? Weeks. Sometimes months. We do not rush.

When we test a portable power station, we don’t just run it for an hour and call it done. We:

Cycle it 0-100% multiple times to measure real capacity (not just what’s on the box)
Run it at high load until thermal cut-off to find true sustained output
Test UPS switchover speed with oscilloscopes, not marketing claims
Simulate years of use in weeks to catch early failures
Compare solar input across different weather conditions, panel angles, and cable types

We do the same for solar panels, charge controllers, cables, and every accessory we cover.

Our Testing Lab (and Field)

We test in controlled environments (temperature chambers, data loggers, power analyzers) and in the real world — on camping trips, in RVs, during power outages, and in the back of pickup trucks on dusty roads. If a product can’t survive your actual life, it doesn’t belong on our site.

What We Cover (And What We Don’t)

We cover:

Portable power stations (all sizes, all brands)
Solar panels (rigid, folding, portable)
Charging accessories (cables, adapters, splitters)
Battery maintenance and system design

We do NOT cover:

Products we haven’t tested personally
“Sponsored” content of any kind
Press releases pretending to be reviews
Anything we wouldn’t trust to keep our own food cold or our own CPAP machine running

Meet the Team

We’re intentionally small. No massive editorial staff cranking out SEO fluff. Just a handful of people who actually use this gear:

Kaybee (Founder / Lead Tester) – Computer Programmer and Engineer. Currently living off-grid. Has destroyed more power stations than he cares to admit in the name of “testing limits.”
Marie (Field Testing) – Overlanding guide and solar consultant. If a panel claims it’s rugged, she’s the one who straps it to a roof rack for 10,000 miles of washboard roads.
David (Technical Writer) – Former lab technician. Keeps us honest with data, graphs, and a deep suspicion of marketing jargon.

We don’t have a PR department. We don’t have a sales team. We have a soldering iron, a stack of data loggers, and a strong opinion about voltage drop.

We will never recommend a product we haven’t tested ourselves.
